Helping Children Thrive, Empowering Parents, Strengthening Families
Rosemary Betzig, LMSW, is a Licensed Master Social Worker in both New York and New Jersey. She earned her Master of Social Work from New York University and also holds a graduate degree in Child Development from Sarah Lawrence College. Her advanced training in child development provides a strong foundation for understanding the emotional, behavioral, social, and developmental needs of children as they grow from early childhood through young adulthood.
Who Rosemary helps
Rosemary specializes in working with children, adolescents, college students, young adults, and families. She has extensive experience helping children and young adults with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, executive functioning difficulties, and problems at home, school, college, or work. She is particularly skilled at helping children who struggle with impulsivity, frustration tolerance, oppositional behaviors, social challenges, and navigating the everyday demands of childhood and adolescence, while also supporting young adults as they transition to college, greater independence, relationships, and the workforce.
Partnering with parents
Rosemary believes that meaningful progress begins by partnering with parents. She provides behavioral parent coaching and evidence-based behavior management strategies, helping caregivers better understand their child’s behavior while learning practical, positive parenting techniques to reduce conflict, establish consistent routines and expectations, improve cooperation, strengthen emotional regulation, and foster healthier parent-child relationships. Rosemary recognizes that parents know their child best and views them as essential partners in treatment. By working collaboratively with families, she helps develop practical strategies that can be successfully implemented in everyday life, empowering parents with the confidence and skills needed to create meaningful, lasting change both inside and outside the therapy office.
An individualized, strengths-based approach
Her therapeutic approach is individualized, collaborative, and strengths-based. Rosemary integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play-based interventions, and family-centered techniques to help children, adolescents, and young adults build resilience, confidence, healthy coping skills, and stronger relationships.
Trust earned at the child’s pace
Known for her warm, patient, and engaging personality, Rosemary quickly develops rapport with children and adolescents, including those who may initially be reluctant, skeptical, or anxious about therapy. She understands that trust is earned, not expected, and creates a safe, supportive environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves at their own pace. Her calm, compassionate nature helps children feel understood and accepted, making her an excellent fit for children who are hesitant about therapy or have difficulty opening up to new people.
Support for adults and couples
In addition to her work with children and families, Rosemary provides therapy for adults and couples. She enjoys helping young adults navigate the important transitions that accompany emerging adulthood, including adjusting to college, beginning a career, developing healthy relationships, managing increasing independence, and balancing life’s new responsibilities. Rosemary has also received specialized training in the Gottman Method, an evidence-based approach to couples therapy that helps partners improve communication, navigate conflict more effectively, rebuild trust, and strengthen their relationship. She has a particular interest in helping parents navigate the unique stresses of raising children, develop a more unified parenting approach, improve co-parenting communication, and work together more effectively as a team.
Rosemary is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that helps children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families overcome challenges, build on their strengths, and achieve lasting emotional well-being.
