Areas We Serve

Ridgewood

Ridgewood is a high-achieving, high-pressure community — the kind of town where kindergartners are tracked, professionals work intense hours, and the cost of looking like everything is fine is high. A meaningful share of our Ridgewood patients come to us not because something dramatic has happened, but because the everyday pressure has finally added up to something they cannot ignore. Telehealth is part of the answer for this community: a 45-minute video appointment fits into a workday in a way that an in-person visit does not.

Family Psychiatry and Therapy is a telehealth-only practice. Every appointment — psychiatric evaluation, medication management, therapy — happens by secure video from wherever you are. Ridgewood patients attend appointments from home, from a quiet space at work, or from anywhere private with a stable internet connection. There is no commute, no waiting room, and no time taken out of your day for travel.

How we serve Ridgewood

The most common conditions we treat for Ridgewood adults are anxiety and depression that present as burnout — high-functioning professionals who are getting the work done but increasingly cannot enjoy any of it. We also see significant numbers of Ridgewood high school and college students dealing with academic pressure, perfectionism, and the anxiety that comes with both. The pattern in adolescents often mirrors the adults: outwardly excellent, internally exhausted.

Because every appointment is by telehealth, the practical barriers to care are lower than they look. A working professional can take a 45-minute appointment between meetings without leaving the house. A high school student can attend a session from their bedroom without a parent driving them anywhere. A college student home for break — or away at school — can keep their appointments without having to switch providers each semester.

Conditions we treat

Our psychiatrists and therapists work with Ridgewood residents across the full range of mental health needs:

Our team

Our practice is led by Helene A. Miller, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist serving northern New Jersey for over twenty years. Our full care team includes psychiatrists for medication management and licensed therapists for talk therapy. New patients are matched to the provider whose specialty best fits their needs after an initial intake conversation.

Insurance

We are in-network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, NJ and NY Personal Injury Protection, NJ and NY Workers’ Compensation, federal DOL/OWCP, and Braven Insurance. If you have a different plan, we are happy to verify your out-of-network benefits before your first appointment — please reach out.

Frequently Asked Questions — Ridgewood

Do you treat high-functioning anxiety and burnout?

Yes — these are some of the most common conditions we treat for adults in towns like Ridgewood. “High-functioning” anxiety often does not look like anxiety from the outside. People can hold demanding jobs, raise children, and manage a household while internally feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or chronically on edge. Treatment usually involves a combination of therapy (often CBT or ACT) and, where appropriate, medication management.

Can my teenager see a therapist for school-related anxiety?

Yes. We work with Ridgewood-area teenagers and young adults dealing with school stress, perfectionism, college admissions anxiety, and related issues. Teen sessions are by telehealth, which removes the awkwardness of a parent driving them to a clinic. With parental consent we can coordinate with school counselors and academic advisors when helpful.

Can I keep seeing the same provider when my college-age child is away at school?

Yes, as long as your child is in New Jersey or New York at the time of the appointment — those are the states our team is licensed in. Many Ridgewood families use telehealth to maintain continuity of care through college, semester transitions, and breaks.

Do you accept evening or early morning appointments?

Yes — limited availability. We offer some early morning and evening telehealth slots specifically for working professionals. Weekend availability is more limited but does exist. Call (201) 977-2889 to ask about specific times.
