
Meet Michael Cate, LAC
Michael is a Licensed Associate Counselor. As a mental health clinician, Michael is dedicated to creating a space where people can feel accepted and heard. Michael patiently works with people to help them feel validated while also working toward growth and change. Michael’s clinical approach is informed by person-centered psychology but borrows from cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy. Michael has experience working with people dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and narcissistic abuse among other issues.
Michael Cate graduated in 2016 with a master’s degree is counseling psychology from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education in New Brunswick, NJ. Michael has previously worked in higher education as an academic coach at Rutgers University where he ran group workshops and worked with students individually helping them develop a practical understanding of learning psychology.
Michael also worked as an English language teacher in Nagano, Japan. Michael enjoys cooking, baking, and reading.
