Signs a Teenager May Be Suffering From Teen Depression

Possible Signs of Depression

Teen depression negatively affects a teenager emotionally, mentally and physically. Here are a few ways to determine if a teenager may be depressed.

Loss of Interest

Teenagers that suffer from depression will become disinterested in some of their favorite activities, such as sports and watching television.

Withdrawal

Social withdrawal is another sign of depression. If a teenager begins to show signs of withdrawal from friends and family, he or she may be depressed.

Poor Performance

As stated, depression can negatively affect a teenager mentally, and this can lead to decrease performance and grades in school.

Irrational Behavior

Depression can cause irrational or erratic behaviors in teenagers, such as excessive pacing, extreme irritability and moodiness, and restlessness.

It’s important to get a proper diagnosis if a teenager displays any of these symptoms. If your teen is truly suffering from teen depression, get help from a depression psychiatrist at Family Psychiatry and Therapy.
