Sarah Merza

Sarah Merza is a Licensed Associate Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. Sarah received her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and a B.A. in psychology from the Ohio State University. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, unwinding to any number of shows on Netflix, and reading the occassional mystery novel.

Sarah has experience working with older adults, young adults, and teenagers who struggle with mental health diagnoses. Sarah has worked in a variety of settings and gained extensive experience working with individuals with psychotic disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma-related diagnoses, and behavioral issues.

Sarah places an emphasis on empowering individuals through recognition of their strengths and resilience. Sarah has worked with a variety of different cultural backgrounds and utilizes integrative approaches to assist individuals in accomplishing their personal and mental health-related goals. Some approaches she utilizes are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.

Sarah also has experience in working with student-athletes and navigating demands between school and athletic performance. She was a 4x NCAA All-American, Conference Champion, and 2x U.S. National Team member. In addition, she took on a leadership role as Team Captain for two years and actively facilitated volunteer opportunities for student-athletes within the community. Sarah works with clients to promote a sense of balance between emotional wellness and life roles.

In her free time, she enjoys exercising, unwinding to any number of shows on Netflix, and reading the occasional mystery novel. She is also an avid fan of the fall season, which includes apple picking and all things pumpkin flavored!
