Meet Wendy Yecies, LCSW, Licensed Social Worker
Adolescence and young adulthood can be both the most exciting and trying time in one’s life. Having a therapist to help navigate through those times can make all the difference in how one copes and moves forward. Wendy strives to create a safe, supportive, engaging, and nurturing environment for each client. Her broad clinical experience includes treatment of eating disorders, self harm behaviors, and addiction, as well adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, mood disorders, family conflict, impulsivity, and difficult life transitions.
Wendy received her MSW from Fordham University in 2006 and has practiced for over a decade in various clinical settings, including recovery centers, domestic violence programs, mental health centers, and schools. She has extensive training in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) with populations ranging from school aged to adult and geriatric.
Wendy utilizes both solution focused and insight-oriented therapy, applying principles largely from CBT and DBT. She believes in treating the whole client, and welcomes collaboration with psychiatrists, primary care providers, and nutritionists to ensure comprehensive care.
Each client brings a unique set of challenges, as well as strengths, to the table. Using evidence-based techniques, Wendy tailors her therapeutic approach to fit the needs of each individual. Together she will explore with you the cause of distress, and the maladaptive thoughts and behaviors that often lead clients to seek help and new direction in life.
As a mother of three, Wendy has both personal and professional experience with managing the every day challenges of parenting and balancing family, work, and social commitments. In her free time, Wendy enjoys playing tennis, hiking, reading, and spending time with family.
